Tea Towel Ruhr
During the summer of 2009 Doreen Westphal visited the Ruhrgebiet. The dense fusion of history, art and culture within this area left a deep impression on her.
Once back in Holland she asked graphic designer Oliver Cornelissen to collaborate together and make a collage of the impressions she collected during her travel; the Zeche Zollverein, the Aquarius water tower, the unbelievable art works on top of the heaps, de Halden, and the stories she got told about the sport with the messenger pigeons; the ‘horse races’ of the working people. Expanding the design into a table cloth is also possible.
Tea towel ‘Ruhr’ is selected by Design Kiosk to be exhibited and sold during the year 2010 when the Ruhr area is cultural capital of Europe.
